Aldi gives shoppers a freebie to celebrate its big birthday
Aldi is turning 35 in the UK - and if you share its birthday, you could bag a freebie.
Published: 2 April 2025
The budget supermarket, which first opened its doors in Birmingham on 5 April 1990, is giving away £35 worth of vouchers to lucky shoppers born on the same day.
To enter, simply email [email protected] and 35 winners will be selected at random. Just be ready to prove your birth date if you win.
The vouchers can be spent on anything in-store, from weekly groceries to home essentials - or even a cheeky Cuthbert Cake.
Rebecca Heley, Aldi UK’s Communications Director, said: "We’re thrilled to be celebrating 35 years of Aldi in the UK and want to share the fun with our customers. This is our way of saying thanks and making birthdays extra special!"
The competition runs from 2 April to 2 May 2025, so if you’re an Aldi birthday twin, make sure you don’t miss out.
Full details can be found here.
Aldi opened its first UK store in the Stechford area of Birmingham back in 1990. Today, the supermarket has more than 1,050 stores and around 45,000 colleagues across the UK.
It has been consistently named the cheapest supermarket in the UK by consumer group Which?.
