The move, which is costing Aldi £12 million, will see prices lowered by 20% on average across a huge range of Christmas products including chocolate and prosecco, as well as many of its frozen party range.

Aldi has lowered the price of almost 300 products in the past few months. Its latest move followed the supermarket’s announcement of a ‘Christmas Price Lock’ which sees the price of key food staples such as whole turkey crowns, pigs in blankets, Christmas puddings and festive vegetables remain the same price they were in 2022.

Julie Ashfield, managing director or buying at Aldi UK, said: “This latest investment is part of our continued efforts to make great quality food affordable for all, from party food treats to iconic Christmas essentials.

“We want everyone to be able to enjoy the festive season, so we’re doing all we can to keep our prices low this Christmas – just as we always do!”

Some of the products have already been reduced, they include:

  • Celebrations 600g was £4.49 now £3.99
  • Quality Street 600g was £4.49 now £3.99
  • Gingerbread Mulled Wine was £2.89 now £2.49
