Get free electricity this Christmas with Uswitch
Christmas is a time for giving, and this year, Uswitch is offering a little extra cheer to mark the return of National Grid's NESO scheme.
Households signing up for the Uswitch ‘money back’ scheme by 22 December can enjoy up to £10 worth of free electricity on Christmas Day.
Yes, you heard it right – free electricity to keep the lights twinkling and the turkey roasting.
What is the National Grid NESO scheme?
The National Grid's NESO scheme is back to help households earn money by cutting down on electricity usage during peak times.
By adjusting how much energy you use when it matters most, you’re not just saving money, you’re also helping the planet.
How does money back work?
The money back scheme is open to anyone with a working smart meter, regardless of supplier.
Here’s how you can get involved:
- Download the free Uswitch mobile app.
- Connect your smart meter.
- Enable push notifications to stay updated on session times.
Once you’re signed up, every kilowatt-hour you save during designated sessions will earn you money.
The bonus for Christmas Day will be added to your regular money back payments after the scheme ends.
How to qualify
To qualify for the Christmas bonus, you must opt into the money back scheme through the app by 22 December.
You’ll need to reduce your electricity usage in manageable ways, such as:
- turning off unused appliances
- delaying cooking or running the dishwasher
You also can’t be taking part in similar schemes from other apps or services.
What’s in it for you?
Not only will you enjoy a lighter electricity bill, but you’ll also have the chance to donate your earnings to charity if you wish.
The app also allows you to track your energy savings, helping you develop better habits that could benefit your wallet all year long.
Download the Uswitch app for free from the App Store or Google Play.
