Key money dates for June 2025

Can you believe we’re nearly halfway through the year already? After a busy May with two long weekends and a half-term, June is shaping up to be a quieter month, at least when it comes to public holidays.

As there are no bank holidays in June, if you receive a benefits or a pension, payments should go ahead as normal.

But, if you do run into any issues, you can contact the helpline listed on the department for work and pensions website.

That said, June still brings some important financial dates.

Here’s what to keep an eye on:

11 June – spending review

On 11 June, Rachel Reeves will deliver her first multi-year spending review settlement as chancellor and the first from a Labour government since the 2000s.

This review sets out how much money will be allocated to key public services, things like the NHS, schools, local transport and social care. If you rely on any public services (and most of us do), this matters.

It’s also a chance for the government to start delivering on campaign promises, including plans for growth and to improve the economy.

19 June - MPC meeting

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meets on 19 June to review the base interest rate.

They’ll be looking at inflation, economic growth and financial stability.

The outcome could affect how much you’re paying on loans, mortgages and credit cards, or what you’re earning on savings.

It’s a date worth watching if you’ve got debts or savings.

30 June – mortgage guarantee scheme closes

If you’re trying to get a mortgage with a 5% deposit, the government’s mortgage guarantee scheme will close on 30 June.

The scheme is aimed at helping people with low deposits buy their own home by giving lenders more protection.

June might seem quiet on the surface, but these key dates could have a real impact on your finances.  Whether you’re saving, borrowing or planning a big move, now’s the time to stay informed and make sure you’re ready.
