Millions could get free energy on Valentine’s Day
A major energy supplier is offering free energy this Valentine’s Day.
EDF is ‘sharing the love’ by offering its five million customers four hours of free electricity on Valentine’s evening as part of its Sunday Saver scheme.
The supplier is offering free electricity from 7 pm until 11 pm on 14 February.
Households must register their interest in EDF’s next Sunday Saver challenge by 31 February to be included in the Valentine’s Day offer.
Customers who have registered interest in the next Sunday Saver will automatically receive the free hours and don’t need to apply again.
EDF’s Sunday Saver scheme gives customers the chance to save money on their electricity bills by moving their usage away from the weekday peak hours of 4 pm to 7 pm. Depending on how much customers shift by, they can ‘earn’ back between four and 16 hours of electricity.
The Valentine’s Day offer follows EDF’s successful Christmas Day scheme, where it gave away eight free hours of electricity, worth £200,000, on the big day.
This was on top of what EDF usually offers through the Sunday Saver scheme.
During December, Sunday Savers earned an average of 26 hours of free electricity, with the top 20% of savers getting 50 free hours.
If you’re an EDF customer, you can register for Sunday Savers here.
To participate, you’ll need a smart meter that sends readings to EDF every 30 minutes and a tariff with one of two electricity rates.
