Setting up a DMP online
A debt management plan (DMP) lets you pay off debts at a rate you can afford if you’re struggling to meet your contractual monthly payments. Find out how to set up a DMP online.
DMPs in a nutshell
A DMP is an informal agreement between you and your creditors to give you longer to pay back your non-priority debts.
You make one affordable payment each month and this is divided fairly among your creditors.
If you come to us for your DMP, when we ask your creditors to accept lower payments, we’ll also ask them to freeze interest and charges. We can’t guarantee they’ll agree to this, but they usually do.
It’s important to bear in mind that a DMP may affect your credit rating as creditors are likely to report that you’re not making your full contractual monthly payments.

Can I set up a DMP online?
If you decide you’d like to get a free DMP from us, you can go through the full debt advice journey online.
We’ll recommend the best way to deal with your debts. If we suggest a DMP, you’ll be able to accept that recommendation online too.
At that point, we’ll arrange to call you to introduce ourselves and get the creditor information we need. When the terms of your DMP have been agreed, we’ll also arrange a call to set up the payment.
Once your DMP is up and running, you can manage it using our free app.
This shows your budget, your outstanding balances, your payment details and any messages from us.
You can also use the app to upload any correspondence we need e.g. bank statements.
