Don’t let a hearing impairment stop you getting debt help

Today (Monday 3 March 2025) is World Hearing Day. This year’s theme is about changing mindsets. Part of this involves being aware of the impact a hearing impairment can have on someone’s life and supporting affected individuals.

To mark the event, we’d like to reassure anyone with a hearing impairment who is putting off getting debt advice because of accessibility concerns that our service is set up to support you.

Getting debt advice online

Did you know you can complete our full debt advice journey online? Enter your details so we can build a full picture of your financial situation and we’ll recommend ways to deal with your debt. This might involve one or a combination of:

• better budgeting – we’ll offer detailed guidance on this
• a debt solution – for example, a debt relief order or a debt management plan
• a benefits check – we’ll tell you if you’re missing out on any financial support you’re entitled to

Prefer the phone?

If you prefer a conversation over the phone, you can get in touch using text relay.

This allows you to use your smartphone, tablet or computer to speak or type to a relay assistant who then repeats that information to one of our debt advisers. The assistant then types back the debt adviser’s response.

To use text relay simply dial 18001 followed by our number 0161 518 8285. We’re available Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and over the weekend between 10am and 4pm.
