Free family Christmas events
A lot of us don’t have much cash to splash this year but that doesn’t mean we're not ready to throw ourselves wholeheartedly into Christmas. Find free family festive events in your area to keep Yuletide spirits high.
Midlands
What: free toy and gift event
Where: Malvern
When: 17 December 1pm – 6pm
Donations have been pouring in for a free toy and gift event in Poolbrook, Malvern, to help families struggling this Christmas. The event will take place at Poolbrook Village Hall. Those finding it hard to make ends meet can come along and pick up items for free.
North East
What: Grotto Bus
Where: Newcastle
When: until 17 December
Santa’s elves will be outside TK Maxx on Northumberland Street offering local children the opportunity to meet the big man himself for free on the Grotto Bus.
North West
What: Christmas Night Arkade
Where: Liverpool
When: 15 December 4pm – 9pm
Head down to the Invisible Wind Factory on Regent Road to enjoy festive market stalls, DJs, live music, performers and food and drink. Entry is free.
South East
What: free Santa visit
Where: Bracknell
When: 17 December, 12.30pm – 3.30pm
The Allston family in Bracknell have been running their Santa’s grotto for the past three years. Come and get a gift from Father Christmas and enjoy hot chocolate and other treats, all completely free.

Yorkshire
What: festive lantern trail
Where: Halifax, West Yorkshire
When: every day through the rest of December
Ten beautiful lanterns have been scattered around the historic Halifax mill, Dean Clough, for people to find this December.
Pick up a free festive lantern trail sheet from reception at D Mill and return it filled in to win a prize.
