Morrisons’ IT glitch gives More Card customers 10% off shopping
Morrisons customers are experiencing major issues with their loyalty cards just before Christmas, leaving many frustrated.
Shoppers are struggling to redeem discounts and some are worried their groceries won’t arrive on time due to IT problems.
More Card blunder
Morrisons has been offering big discounts on items like turkeys, spirits and vegetables. But today (23 December), many shoppers have been unable to use their More Card points at the checkout.
Some click-and-collect orders have also been affected.
Morrisons has apologised for the “system issues” and is offering a 10% discount on your entire shop if your More Card isn’t working. The discount is valid until stores close on Christmas Eve but some local restrictions may apply.
What is a More Card?
The More Card is Morrisons’ loyalty program. For every item you buy, you earn five points. Some products earn even more points. Once you reach 5,000 points, you get a £5 voucher to spend on your shopping.
Delivery delays and cancellations
The supermarket’s issues don’t end at the checkout. Morrisons has warned some home deliveries may be delayed and click-and-collect customers should wait for an email notification before collecting their orders.
Even worse, some customers have reported that their online orders, containing Christmas food, have been cancelled altogether.
Bad timing for Morrisons
With today expected to be the busiest shopping day of the year, the glitch is especially bad timing for Morrisons, which is the fifth largest supermarket in the UK.
Retail expert Ronan Hegarty from the Grocer said: "Retailers are putting more and more deals through their loyalty cards and if shoppers can't access them, they will feel cheated.
“That it has happened so close to Christmas will leave a bad taste in customers’ mouths and have them thinking about where to shop next."
