New tool scans internet to find you cheapest deals
Klarna – better known for offering buy now, pay later, has launched a new product that’ll allow shoppers to take pictures of things they like and search the internet to compare deals and find the cheapest deals.
The AI-powered image search is similar to Google Lens, will be able to identify more than 10 million items from over 50 million stores and could revolutionise the way we shop.
The new tool, which will be housed in the Klarna app, works by translating images into searchable terms so shoppers can turn whatever catches their eye into a shoppable item that they can pick up at the cheapest possible price.
All users need to do it is point their mobile phone at an item of clothing, electrical product or home décor and instantly find out where to buy it and then get the best deal via the Klarna app.
The new tool builds on Klarna’s discovery shopping offering, which acts as an AI personal shopper by recommending products based in person’s interests.
Sebastian Siemiatkowski, chief executive of Klarna said: “Klarna is the smarter choice, whether you’re looking for shopping inspiration, personalised recommendations, or finding the best price.
“Just like the internet gave everyone access to information, AI gives everyone access to intelligence, context and personalisation.
“At Klarna we’re using this to bridge the gap between the physical and digital world, connecting how humans get inspired with how computers search. I’m super proud that Klarna is leading this revolution in retail.”
