What’s the deal with Tesco’s £0 ‘yellow stickers’?
Tesco is doing something pretty exciting to help reduce food waste – they’re testing £0 yellow stickers in some of their stores.

Instead of offering discounts, like the usual yellow stickers, these will let customers take home unsold food for free.
Why is Tesco giving away free food?
Tesco’s £0 yellow sticker trial is part of the supermarket’s drive to reduce food waste and help the planet.
It aims to become carbon neutral by 2035 and giving away unsold food is one way to make that happen.
Tesco will still be donating food to charities and staff will get access to discounted items earlier in the day.
Where can you find the £0 yellow stickers?
Tesco is trialing the £0 scheme in a number of its Express stores. The stickers will be applied to items after 9.30pm.
So, if you’re a late-night shopper, this could be your chance to grab some free food.
Why are yellow stickers so popular?
As the cost of food and other living essentials continues to rise, items with discounts, often as much as 90% off as they’re close to their sell-by-date or have minor damage, have become more and more popular.
So much so that there’s even been reports of shoppers brawling in supermarket aisles to get to the discounts.
Olio’s ‘deals’ section for yellow stickers
If you’re a fan of yellow stickers, you might also want to check out the Olio app’s ‘deals’ section.
It’s a treasure trove of yellow sticker offers from stores like Co-op, Spar, Budgens and Morrisons.
You can search for deals near you, add items to your watchlist and head to the store to pick them up before someone else does.
