Can I check my debt relief order on the insolvency register?

If you have a debt relief order (DRO), the details will be recorded on the individual insolvency register.

What is the insolvency register?

The individual insolvency register is a public database holding details of insolvency cases in England and Wales.

This means you can find details of:

  • DROs
  • bankruptcies 
  • individual voluntary arrangements (IVA)

It also contains details of people who have broken the terms of their DRO or bankruptcy and been given a penalty in the past three months.

The penalties recorded are:

  • debt relief restrictions orders
  • debt relief restrictions undertakings
  • bankruptcy restrictions orders
  • bankruptcy restrictions undertakings

The Insolvency Service is required by law to make this information available for the public, maintain the register, and keep it up to date.

Is the insolvency register the same as the DRO register?

Yes, the insolvency register is the official name for the debt relief order register.

Can I check the details of my DRO on the insolvency register?

Yes, the insolvency register is publicly available, meaning anyone can check it. If you have a DRO, it will include your:

  • full name
  • last known address
  • gender
  • occupation
  • date of birth
  • DRO case number
  • DRO start and end date

If any of this information is wrong, contact the office that dealt with your insolvency to get it corrected. 

Can anyone check the insolvency register?

Yes, anyone can check the insolvency register but the details it holds won’t come up in a normal internet search. The only way for someone to check whether you’re on the insolvency register is to use the official database. 

How long does a DRO stay on the insolvency register?

A DRO will stay on the register for as long as you have it (usually 12 months but it may be extended in some cases) and must be removed 3 months after its ended
